I am a typeface designer, font engineer and a researcher of typography. I specialize in type and typography of South Asian scripts with a focus on Sinhala and Tamil scripts and multilingual communications. I received my MA in Typeface Design from the University of Reading with a distinction in 2016 and a BA in Graphic Design from the Academy of Design (AOD), Colombo with a distinction in 2013. I am currently based in Colombo, Sri Lanka leading Mooniak – a multidisciplinary design, art direction and technology practice with an emphasis on type. Pathum and the team provides consulting on South Indian script related localisation, type design, typography and multilingual communication.
Samadara Ginige is an award winning logo designer and a typographer. She started her career 12 years ago as a web-centric software developer. After working in the web development sector for seven years, she fell in love with logo designing and typography. Samadara was intrigued by how an idea born inside a designer’s mind becomes the face of a company. She self-studied about typography and letterforms to create a custom typefaces for her logos. Samadara has won many awards including the prestigious A’ Design Award for her identity designs. Her portfolio consists of projects including logo, brand identity and typography. Samadara's designs have been showcased in many design exhibitions around the world while her solo debut exhibition was held in 2015 displaying nearly 60 of her iconic logo designs and typographic poster designs. She loves learning new design techniques, sketching, and typography in between her work.
